Nail Art Threesome, Brit Nails

Hey everyone! Myself, Allie of Brit Nails, and Hannah of Polly Polish have been talking on WhatsApp for what feels like my whole blogging life, but has really been around 2 years. I can't imagine blogging without them to be honest, and they've helped me through a lot, not just nails. So we decided that it was finally time to pay homage to each other by creating each others designs. This will consist of two different posts, one with Allie's design and one with Hannah's.

Today I'm recreating one of Allie's designs. I chose this vibrant Valentine's design because it fits well with the time of year, and also because I owned the Picture Polish shade she used (baring it mind I only own 4). You can see her original post here, and you can see a picture below of her design to compare. Her nails are of course a lot longer than mine so it was never going to look as elegant, nor do I own any square studs apparently. I also don't own any stencils so I had to completely freehand the design. This meant that I didn't create the gradient with a sponge, but instead with a brush for the first time, and it isn't as fluid as it would be with a sponge. However, I was pretty happy with the final result, and I think it's very bright and fun, and I hope you can still see the similarities between the two designs!

Allie's original design

I started with the Barry M - Iron Mani Nail Hardener* base coat. The base of my ring finger is Barry M - Cotton for the base of my ring finger, then I used Picture Polish - Sizzle for the pink, and Barry M - Need For Speed for the purple. The studs are from Avon. I finished off with a coat of Seche Vite.

You can see Allie's recreation of Hannah's design here, and Hannah's recreation of my design here.

Check back on Monday for my recreation of Hannah's nails!

A2Z Series - Q Is For 'Quirky'

Hi NaiLovelies!

This week the challenge word is QUIRKY......that's right, we've reached the letter Q already - I can't believe how quickly this challenge is going by....

Boy oh boy - this week was so hard for me to come up with something for prompt, I mean what the heck is a flippin' Quirky manicure when their at home anyway....? Trust me, this was a question I asked the other ladies taking part.  They said something 'interesting, unique, alternative'..... so this is my interpretation!

I recently chopped my hair off and am currently sporting a fab new afro do.  As a hair and nail blogger, I thought I would combine both of my hobbies and add my face and hair onto my nails - well kinda..... I can't say I have ever seen an afro haired lady on anyones nails - EVER.  I am not really the type to wear this type of nail art but I'm not gonna lie - I LOVE THIS MANI!  I am also surprised at how wearable it is and I can't wait to wear it to work tomorrow.

I almost pulled out of the challenge this week because I just couldn't decide on whether the idea I had in mind was good enough.  It turns out I should have a little more faith in my nail art ability because I ended up loving this as much as the Kitchen Sink manicure - another week that I was dreading!

I was so worried about whether this would come out okay I decided to just sit down with my acrylic paints and see what happened.  I painted this over an existing gel polish and regular polish cover up manicure.  This meant that I I would be able to fix any mishaps easily but I am stunned that this worked first time - no problems encountered along the way (apart from my dark brown paint being lumpy - it had this weird souffle consistency....you can see a chunk of said souffle on my cheek if you look closely :)

I decided to leave my hair and face topcoat free so the matte acrylic paint would 'pop' against the duochrome and holographic background.

Morgan Taylor Little Black Dress
Picture Polish Aurora
China Glaze Golden Enchantment
Nina Ultra Pro Gold Holographic Glitter
Acrylic paints (Brown, white, Black, Pink & red)

So, that's it for another week.  Don't forget to check out the Inlinkz for all of the other fab Quirky manicures for this week and swing by the hub to see all of the manicures we have created for this series.

piCture pOlish Peaches n' Cream Review/Swatches

Goooood morning everyone! I hope you're all doing well! I know I haven't been posting as frequently as I used to, but I've been trying to catch up on all my swatching so I can post more. There just aren't enough hours in the day! However, I think you'll forgive me when you see this beauty!

Peaches n' Cream is a gorgeoussssss peachy coral cream that is so up my alley. This is two creamy, perfect coats. I hoard coral/peach shades, but this one is definitely heading to the top of my favorites list.

piCture pOlish Electric Dream Review/Swatches

Are you guys ready to drool? I'm pretty sure this is my favorite piCture pOlish shade so far. Electric Dream is a stunning warm shade of pink with tons of gold shimmer packed into it.

This polish is absolutely gorgeous! The formula is great as well; I used two coats for these photos and it was so smooth and effortless to apply.
