Hey everyone! A while ago I created some peacock feather nails for Avon, but I'm just not happy with how they turned out (even if I thought I was at the time). I must admit I didn't really step out of my comfort zone with them and I made them incredibly simplistic. So when Avon asked me to create some more, I knew it was time to try something new and push my boundaries a bit. Turns out.. they're not that difficult! I just expected them to turn out a disaster but all I did was paint a few flicks, add a bit of glitter, and a stud, and they looked like peacock feathers ... easy peasy. The peacock itself was also relatively straightforward. In fact, if you want a tutorial to create these yourself, or info on colours used, just click after the jump!
For these I used Avon - Turquoise Pop, Savage, Envy, Topaz, Glimmer, Cosmic Blue, Matte White and Black. Plus Blue Avon studs. Finished off with a coat of Seche Vite
Step 1: paint your nails with your base colour
Step 2: using a striping brush and a darker green paint wispy lines starting from the centre outwards, this should form a line in the centre without you needing to paint one first
Step 3: repeat this with a darker green and a glitter
Step 4: using a dotting tool and a copper colour add a dot to the centre of your feather
Step 5: add a lighter green dot to the centre of the copper dot. Then, if you wish you can add a peacock to your accent nail. Paint a head using navy and a striping brush and fill in the details with black and white using a small nail art brush
Step 6: add feathers to the background of your peacock as you did on the first nails. On your other nails add a blue stud to the centre of your feathers and finish off with a topcoat to seal in your design
What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
